Since being diagnosed, I have been amazingly fortunate to meet amazing ladies who had, were and still are going through their own journeys. I knew cancer could affect anyone, any year, any type of person, but I was very much unaware how many young people there actually were. Today as i was scrolling through facebook, I came across this amazing video. It not only touched me, but I so associated with it.
Through the years, I saw a few young ones who already left us, and some that are NED (No evidence of disease) and others who will always be on chemo, though you may never realize just.
We become a sisterhood of sorts, a groupie, a support like no other, as our families and friends may be there for us, but will never understand truly what we are going through, both through treatment as well as after. Cancer changes us, chemo changes us, surgeries changes us.
Our priorities change as well. And the only ones who truly understand us are those sisters in health that we meet throughout our journey. Those sisters will always be there for us, close or from afar.
